"The first week I started the regime the change was amazing. My energy returned, my skin glowed, the aches and pains and heat (inflammation) in my joints went away (almost all), the gastric reflux stopped. People commented on the change in me. I was amazed at how different and positive I felt. So thank you so much." Susie, Plymouth

"I can't speak highly enough of that man, he changed my life". Doreen, Worcester

Anorexia and Bulimia

The near starvation of anorexia and the induced vomiting after binge eating of bulimia are both the result of an imbalance of brain chemicals, the neurotransmitters. This imbalance also has other manifestations such as depression and anxiety (please refer to notes on these conditions).

Whereas most treatment s focus on the psychological aspects of the problem, increasing evidence now points to a biochemical basis for these disorders especially the irrefutable finding of a deficiency of zinc as well as the B vitamins among sufferers:
Loss of appetite, as seen in bulimia, is a classical symptom of Pellagra, a deficiency of niacin (vitamin B3). Loss of taste experienced in anorexia is typical of zinc deficiency. Serotonin, an amino acid neurotransmitter associated with "happy thoughts" and proper digestion, is almost always found to be reduced in both anorexia and bulimia.

Neurotransmitter balance may also be affected by food allergy/intolerance, pathogenic organisms (bacteria, viruses, fungus/Candida and parasites), toxins such as metals (aluminium, lead, mercury, arsenic, cadmium etc), chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, food additives and preservatives etc), radiation (mobiles and phone masts, DECT phones, background radiation, air travel etc) and not forgetting emotional highs and lows such as grief, fear, despair, etc from the stresses of life - all the epigenetic markers.

Treatment of anorexia and bulimia involves removal of the possible causes and ensuring an adequate supply of the major factors in healing and regeneration such as amino acids, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids of omega 3 and 6, the friendly bacteria, probiotics and soluble and insoluble fibre from whole grains, fruit and vegetables.
Last but certainly not least in the treatment of both conditions is to ensure a plentiful intake of water to avoid dehydration, as well as sunlight where possible and regular exercise. Sugar and caffeine are perhaps the two most deleterious factors in any condition which affects the mood and emotions as well as recreational drugs and must be avoided at all times.

An Integral Health DNA Hair Test not only can identify the epigenetic factors which possibly give rise to cause/causes of an imbalance in the body and the potential for signs and symptoms of disease; it is also able to highlight the nutrient and lifestyle recommendations specific for each unique individual, helping to ensure they are able to achieve optimum health - naturally.
