"The first week I started the regime the change was amazing. My energy returned, my skin glowed, the aches and pains and heat (inflammation) in my joints went away (almost all), the gastric reflux stopped. People commented on the change in me. I was amazed at how different and positive I felt. So thank you so much." Susie, Plymouth

"I can't speak highly enough of that man, he changed my life". Doreen, Worcester

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

The wrist joint, like all specialised joints of the skeleton, is held together by ligaments and capsules of fibrous tissue. Inflammation within the joint causes pressure on the nerves from the arm to the fingers and gives rise to the pain, tingling and even numbness of carpal tunnel syndrome.

The conventional medicine approach to carpal tunnel syndrome is to use steroids with their litany of documented side effects, as injections into the wrist, to reduce the swelling with complete disregard to the cause of the inflammation, or, surgery to stretch the fibrous tissue which forms the sleeve of the wrist joint - the tunnel.

The many causes of inflammation of carpal tunnel syndrome must be addressed, including that of injury sustained by over activity of the joint. These include food allergy/intolerance, pathogenic organisms (bacteria, viruses, fungus/Candida and parasites), toxins such as metals (arsenic, cadmium, lead, mercury etc), chemicals (pesticides, herbicides, preservatives etc), radiation (DECT phones, mobiles and masts, air travel etc), drugs (NSAIDs - ironically the very ones used to tackle the pain of carpal tunnel syndrome, steroids etc), and not forgetting malabsorption of essential nutrients such as amino acids, vitamins, minerals and especially fatty acids of EPA and DHA. All of this will release inflammatory chemicals within the body, creating an environment for deterioration of our joints.

Apart from a very brief period of rest followed quickly by rehabilitative exercise,  the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome is to address the causative factors and to supply the essential tools for reduction of inflammation and proper healing and regeneration of healthy tissue, which include amino acids, vitamins, minerals and especially the omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, as well as probiotics, soluble and insoluble fibre from fruits, vegetables and whole grains, not forgetting adequate amounts of water, a regular daily exercise regime and sunlight, when possible.
Muscles also play an important role in protecting our joints and this is where exercise, especially resistance exercise, is essential in both the prevention and treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome.

An Integral Health DNA Hair Test not only can identify the epigenetic factors which possibly give rise to cause/causes of an imbalance in the body and the potential for signs and symptoms of disease; it is also able to highlight the nutrient and lifestyle recommendations specific for each unique individual, helping to ensure they are able to achieve optimum health - naturally.
