"The first week I started the regime the change was amazing. My energy returned, my skin glowed, the aches and pains and heat (inflammation) in my joints went away (almost all), the gastric reflux stopped. People commented on the change in me. I was amazed at how different and positive I felt. So thank you so much." Susie, Plymouth

"I can't speak highly enough of that man, he changed my life". Doreen, Worcester

Diverticulitis

The formation of pouches, or diverticuli, in the colon, especially in the last third, may become infected and Diverticulitis or diverticular disease is the result.

As this condition is more prevalent in women, conventional thinking associates Diverticulitis to a weakened colon wall from increased intra-colonic pressure from labour or straining at the toilet, as well as reduced fibre in the diet.

While this assumption may be true, holistic thinking goes further than that and lays most of the blame on insufficient water intake which makes stools too dry for the bowel to shift, and infection with a gut parasite.
The gut is home to over two and a half kilograms of foreign cells belonging to bacteria, viruses, fungus/Candida and parasites. These inhabitants, or commensals, live in balanced harmony with the friendly bacteria or probiotics. Antibiotics, the Pill, HRT, chemicals in our water and food, as well as medicinal drugs, will disturb this delicate balance allowing parasites to thrive.
These in turn, will cause localised pockets of irritation of the gut and the formation of pouches of Diverticulitis.

Treatment must be aimed at restoring the balancing by addressing the parasites and other triggers and allowing the colon to heal and repair by ensuring that adequate, important nutrition such as amino acids, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids of omega 3 and 6, both soluble and insoluble fibre from grains, fruits and vegetables and not forgetting to replace the probiotics or friendly gut flora.
