Infertility

- Infertility is the inability to conceive by either partner
- Big factors in infertility include structural abnormalities such as blocked fallopian tubes, undescended testes, adhesions from operations and injuries to organs, especially the ovaries themselves.
- Also pelvic inflammatory disease, intra-uterine devices (IUDs), hormonal imbalance, as well as advanced age.
- In men, infertility has been linked to many things from undescended testes and mumps, to radiation.
- Malnutrition by way of deficiencies in amino acids, vitamins, minerals and the essential fatty acids, contribute to sperm and ovarian dysfunction.
- Heavy metals and chemical toxicity result in a marked reduction of the enzymes involved in reproduction.
- Low thyroid has been shown to be of importance in infertility as well as miscarriage.
- Caffeine and salicylates adversely affect fertility.
- Other chemicals implicated in infertility are alcohol, fluoride, mercury, pesticides and herbicides, smoking and synthetic oestrogen.
